The study of moods and opinions of employees
The survey aims at discovering what employees think of the workplace, what their expectations are and how satisfied they are with the job.
It also answers the question as to which areas are considered to be of key importance by the employees, which ought to be improved, and where the causes of encroaching problems or doubts lie.
An analysis of the results provides managerial staff with reliable information on the possibility of effective people management in the area of building the mutual trust which is an indispensable element of proper employee motivation.
For managers the outcomes of the survey can form a reference point for assessing the organisation’s operation, developing and implementing the company’s personnel policy and organisational culture, introducing changes to the organisation or optimizing decisions which have been taken. The knowledge gained in the process of the survey allows for employees’ level of loyalty to the company to be assessed, together with their sense of connection with the company, its mission and its goals.
An employee opinion survey is very often carried out prior to introducing serious changes to the company. Finding out what employees think about the proposed changes allows the company to avoid applying the trial and error method and this, in turn, contributes to minimising the risk of ineffective changes occurring in the company. Moreover, engaging employees and encouraging them to express their opinions reduces the possibility of employee opposition to changes, which is a common enough phenomenon. Instead, it creates a sense of joint development of the changes and increases the sense of belonging to, and identifying with, the company.
